Our Team

Associate Attorney

Rian is a Bethlehem, New York native who has returned to the Capital District, a place she has always considered home, after two decades in the Boston area. She is thrilled to be raising her children just a few blocks from where she grew up. She appreciates how special the community is and how when attending her kids’ sporting events or a trip to the store, she frequently bumps into friends, family or neighbors. Rian truly enjoys meeting new people and her family jokes that she makes a new friend everywhere she goes. She is caring and sensitive to others which is no surprise considering that her mom is a retired registered nurse and her dad a retired social worker. Rian is quick to admit that while caring for others is in her DNA, she never had the stomach for nursing and turned to law as her next best choice. Her compassion for her clients is obvious and that makes her a perfect fit for Lavelle & Finn, LLP, where our clients are our first priority.

Rian’s practice at Lavelle & Finn, LLP focuses on all aspects of estate planning and estate administration: wills and trusts, long term care planning, Medicaid planning, real estate transfers and probate matters. She comes to Lavelle & Finn, LLP with over a decade of experience as a bankruptcy attorney in the Boston area. Her experience in bankruptcy law gives her a deep understanding of the importance of asset protection and estate planning. She has witnessed over and over again that when unexpected life events happened, those who planned ahead were in the best position to protect their and their family’s financial security. She believes that the most important aspect of meeting with a client is taking the time to understand the client’s goals and objectives and to never rush those conversations. Rian understands that planning for the unexpected can be challenging and takes thought and time. Immediately upon meeting Rian you will feel confident that you are in good hands with a qualified attorney who truly cares about you and your family.

When not working, Rian loves spending time with her three children or volunteering at their school or at community events. She is passionate about giving back and recently fund-raised for Boston Children’s Hospital. For “fun” she enjoys long distance running and, like most runners, loves talking about running to anyone who will listen. If she sees that you are wearing a race T-shirt she will ask you about it (like those Turkey Trot T-shirts you earned!). We’re not sure if that is really about running or just another way of making friends everywhere she goes.
